New job to do

Benjamin loves to play with our thermos bottles. Here he is working very hard to put the tops on the bottles. We think he is a smart boy b/c he has never seen us use these bottles, but he realized that these lids belong on the bottles. What do you think?

Well.... smart or not he is a super cut boy! I think we can all agree on that. ;)

Benjamin walking (Mar. '09)

Benjamin has been "cruising" around furniture since November-- 4 months. In March, Benjamin started pushing his walker around the house. He would go back and forth across the living room with the walker and now (end of April) he can push it all over. He can go around the entire first floor and he doesn't fall when going from carpet to wood floors. We took the walker outside last week. He enjoyed walking with it down the driveway. He wanted to go across the street to the basketball goal in our neighbor's yard but we stopped him at the end of the driveway. He also will walk around with you by holding your hands. It took longer for him to feel safe walking with us but he enjoys it now.

Benjamin's 1st plane project (March '09)

Uncle Ethan gave Benjamin a cool airplane LEGO kit to enjoy. It took a few nights to build because, of course, we had to make sure Benjamin was not eating the LEGO’s, but Daddy and Benjamin got it assembled. What a neat airplane! The propeller spins and it has landing gear and everything!

Next it was time to play!! Well, by that we mean to take it apart. Benjamin really enjoyed that part. We only found a few pieces in his mouth but for the next several days Mommy found them randomly scattered all over the downstairs. ;)

The airplane is mostly together now and the parts not installed are waiting their chance on a shelf next to the airplane. One of Benjamin's favorite things after his diaper change is to spin the airplane propellers on the planes located in the hutch above the changing table. He has 7 planes including the LEGO plane, the Wright Flyer, and the Spirit of Saint Lois.

Well "Mama" is the only word he can say, could that mean that I'm his fav.? ;) Could be, but really he says, "Mama" whenever he needs something (food, sleep, etc.) and he says it to whoever is around.

Benjamin LOVES basketball

It was time for Benjamin's bedtime bottle but he would have none of it. David was watching a basketball game and Benjamin pushed his bottle away so that he could see the game. I think he likes it better than other sports because he can see the ball bouncing and moving around the court. Although, in these pictures he is looking at the camera-- he love it too. ;)

On the phone (Feb '09)

Benjamin likes to talk to Daddy on the phone. Sometimes he plays phone at home although he doesn't quite have it down pat on his own-- the phone usually ends up on the back of his head instead of on his ear. So cute!!

Learning how new toys work (Jan '09)

In these pictures Benjamin is demonstrating his skills. After a few days he learned how to put the balls (one of his favorite toys) into the giraffe that Aunt Sarah and Uncle Ethan gave him. He enjoys it, but I don't think he realizes that the balls go through the giraffe and fall out the bottom. After he drops a ball into the giraffe he frequently looks behind it as if he wants to see where the ball went. Oh, well he'll catch on soon enough. :)

Watching Fancy (12/16/08)

Benjamin discovered soon after he started crawling that he could see his beloved Fancy cat through the windows at the bottom of the front door. When it is cold weather Fancy knocks on these low windows with her paw to let us know she is ready to come in. If you look close enough you can see her glowing eyes in the window.

Cuteness!!! (1/2/09)

Well it may appear that Benjamin is mouthing cigars, but they are in fact logs from his log car. ;) It was a car from David's wooden train that he played with when he was little. For Benjamin, the logs were the main attraction. I can't tell you how many hours (not all at one time of course) Benjamin spent taking the logs out of the log car mouthing them, and putting them back in the train. It was a lot of fun for him and a lot of fun for us to watch.
